Working Student · Founding Engineer — AI & Logistics (m/w/d)
Working Student · 15–20h/week · Munich / Hybrid
Help us build the decision layer for modern road freight. Join early as a working-student engineer, work close to the founder and real customers, and ship product across frontend, backend, data, and optimization.
ARCIS is an early-stage AI startup based in Munich, developed within the TUM / UnternehmerTUM ecosystem and supported through the German EXIST start-up programme. We are building an AI-supported decision layer for logistics teams. Freight operations still rely on fragmented systems, messy data, manual planning, and dispatcher experience. ARCIS helps teams make better operational decisions across loads, vehicles, routes, capacity, and operational constraints. We are looking for a Working Student Founding Engineer to join us early and help build the product from the ground up. This role is ideal for someone in the final phase of their Master’s degree who wants to work close to a real startup, real customers, and real technical problems.
Project scope
- Build product features across frontend, backend, data, and internal tools
- Work with messy logistics data from Excel, CSV, APIs, and operational systems
- Help prototype dispatcher-facing dashboards and workflows
- Support optimization-related features around routing, assignment, planning, and capacity
- Turn customer feedback into working software
- Improve data-quality checks, warnings, and explainable outputs
- Work directly with the founder and help shape early product decisions
Ideal profile
You are currently enrolled as a student, ideally in the final phase of a Master’s degree, with strong software engineering fundamentals. You can build across the stack — or are willing to learn fast — and you are comfortable with messy data and unclear requirements. You bring high ownership, speed, and curiosity, and have an interest in AI, logistics, optimization, operations, or B2B software. Based in Munich or able to work hybrid from Munich. Professional English required; right to work in Germany / EU or eligibility to obtain the required work authorization.

What you get
- Not a normal working-student role — work close to the founder, customers, and product instead of fixing small tickets in the background.
- Help build early product modules and test ideas quickly.
- Learn how a B2B AI startup is built from the inside.
- Munich-based startup with TUM / UnternehmerTUM / EXIST support.
